Our Plan
A Balanced City Budget
No more $40 million surprises. I will fix it.
All issues
A well-run city does not borrow from reserves and furlough employees to balance a budget. The Colorado Springs Mayor should have planned better. As county commissioner, I was part of a team that balanced our budget every year, increased services, increased our infrastructure budget, added county parks, massively increased emergency reserves, and fixed our retirement plan for county employees — all without raising taxes.
What we will do
- Build budgets on conservative revenue forecasts, not best-case wishes.
- Replace aging vehicles and equipment that drain productivity through breakdowns.
- Hunt grant dollars and federal partnerships aggressively.
- Audit every department for efficiency before asking voters for new revenue.
- Work with city employees, leadership, and city council to find innovation that will stretch the taxpayer's dollar - just like I did in the County.
