Our Plan
Public Safety First
Without safe neighborhoods, the rest is impossible. We need the safest city in America
All issues
Public safety is about effective and sufficient law enforcement. But it's so much more. Homelessness, crime, addiction, theft, bad roads, and bad healthcare all affect public safety. As Mayor, we will make Colorado Springs the Safest City in the US.
What we will do
- My policy - Make Colorado Springs the safest city in America. No small order and anything less is not acceptable but with the city's current Mayor, we are NOT getting there. As Mayor, I will pursue a broad array of actions
- Find efficiencies in the Colorado Springs police department to rebalance the workforce to increase warranted officers. We need more on patrol.
- Fully fund law enforcement as a first priority.
- Improve partnerships and cooperation with non-profits that deal with addiction, homelessness, and mental health.
- Bad roads make us less save. Obtaining the infrastructure goal listed in that section will reduce accidents 5-15%. Accidents hurt people. Fixing our roads is part of public safety.
- A moral community commits less crime.
- Find homeless who have outstanding arrest warrants and arrest them. Accelerate the processing of those who want to get out of homelessness. Enforce the city's no camping ban. For those that want help, get them help. For those that don't get them gone.
- We'll work towards increased citizen participation in community safety programs like Neighborhood Watch
